Getting started

The first hour with BookNDish is four steps to a first service, then a short list before guests order online. Nothing is public until you press the button at the end of it, so you can take your time.

Register and confirm your email

Create your account with your name, the restaurant's name and a password, then open the link in the confirmation email: a restaurant cannot go live before its email address is confirmed. If the email does not arrive, the card on Home has a "Resend the email" button.

Four steps to your first service

After you log in, Home opens on a card called "Get ready for your first service". It shows how many steps are done and leads with the next one:

  • "Add your menu": import it from a spreadsheet or a photo, or start from a template.
  • "Arrange your tables": draw your room on the floor plan. A counter with no tables can say so in the guided setup.
  • "Invite your staff": add your team and give each person a PIN.
  • "Run a test order": take one order from a table to the bill.

Each step is marked "Done" as soon as it is true, and the one to do next "Next step"; one you passed in the guided setup shows "Skipped for now". Once all four are done, the card says "You are ready for service" and "Open service mode" takes you to the floor, the till and the kitchen. "Hide" puts the card away, and the "Setup" button in the header brings it back.

Before guests order online

Under the four steps, "Before guests order online" folds away what serving at your own tables does not need, each linked to its screen:

  • "Show your first dish to guests".
  • "Confirm your tax rate".
  • "Choose how you get paid" (cash only is fine, as the Payment setup guide explains).
  • "Set your opening hours".
  • "Confirm your timezone". It decides when your reporting day starts, so a wrong one makes last night's sales appear on the wrong date.

Go live

When the dish and the tax rate are done and your email is confirmed, the same list shows "Open my restaurant". Press it and the guest pages, the QR codes and the booking form start answering. Until then, a scanned code shows guests that the menu is not public yet.

Get help

The help icon at the top of every page opens help beside the page: "For this page" opens the guide for that screen, and "Replay the tour" runs its tour again where it has one. Search finds any guide, and "Message support" writes to the BookNDish team with the page attached; the answer arrives by email and on that page.

The other guides

Each module has its own guide. Find your way around explains how the menu is laid out.
