  1. 01

    Menu groups become categories

The menu export is recognised by its column names; menu groups and prices come across as they are.

  2. 02

    Your own hardware

The till runs in a browser on the tablets and phones you already have.

  3. 03

    Month to month

Pay monthly, change plan from the billing page, and keep your data exportable.

What comes with you

  • Your menu: menu groups, items, prices and sizes from the menu export.
  • Your guests: names, phones and emails, with marketing consent only where the file shows it.
  • Your gift cards: each balance and expiry, with the code guests already hold.

Moving over in an afternoon

  1. 01Create your account with Google, Microsoft or an email address.
  2. 02Export your spreadsheets from Toast and import them under Bring your data. A preview shows every change first.
  3. 03Print your new QR codes, place a test order from your phone, and open.
How importing works

How it works

Take a restaurant that runs on Toast and wants to carry its menu and guest list to a different restaurant POS.

  1. Export your menu from Toast as a CSV file, then open Bring your data in the BookNDish admin and choose the menu import.
  2. Upload the file. The columns Menu Group, Menu Item, Base Price and Size are recognised, so menu groups become categories and sizes become sizes.
  3. Check the preview of new dishes, changed prices and unreadable rows, then press Import. It runs in the background and the page follows its progress.
  4. Upload a guest list the same way, with a marketing consent column. Gift cards can follow from a file with a code and a balance column.

What you need

  • CSV files exported from Toast: the menu, and a guest list or gift card list if you want them. Each file can be up to 5 MB and 10,000 rows.
  • An admin login that can edit the menu. Guest imports need an owner or manager, and gift card imports need gift card permission and a plan with gift cards.
  • A tablet or phone with a current browser for the till. Toast terminals and printers do not carry over, so check what you want to keep using with your payment provider.

What it does not do

  • Only categories, dishes, sizes, descriptions and prices come across. Photos, modifiers, tax settings and stock are not read from the file.
  • Order history, payment history, staff records and reports stay in Toast. Toast hardware is not transferred.
  • Guest and gift card files from Toast are read through the generic column names, so a column with an unusual name may need renaming. Guests with no phone or email are skipped and listed.
