How do I handle private event bookings and quotes?

Guests submit an enquiry with the date, party size, event type and budget. You answer with a proposal covering the area, set menu, minimum spend, deposit and terms, and the guest accepts it online.

Does the room get held for a private event?

Yes. When the guest has accepted and the deposit has arrived, the event is booked as a confirmed reservation that holds the whole area for its length, so those tables are not offered to anyone else.

How does ticket check-in work at the door?

Staff open the check-in page and scan the ticket's QR code with a phone camera, or type the short code. A valid ticket is admitted once, and a repeat scan shows when it was checked in.

Can I limit how many seats are sold for an event?

Yes. Each date has its own capacity and you set the most tickets one booking can buy. Seats are counted under a lock, so two guests cannot both buy the last seat.

How it works

Take a restaurant that hosts a monthly wine dinner and takes private bookings for the upstairs room.

The owner creates the wine dinner with a ticket price, a seat count per date and the share paid up front, adds the dates and publishes it on the booking page.
A guest picks a date, chooses how many tickets and pays through Stripe. Seats are held while they pay, and the ticket with its QR code is emailed once the payment arrives.
For a private event, a guest fills in the enquiry form. The manager replies with a proposal covering the area, time, set menu, minimum spend, deposit and terms.
The guest accepts and pays the deposit, and the room is booked. On the night, staff scan each ticket on the check-in page or type its code.

What you need

A plan that includes reservations. Which plans include it is listed on this page.
Selling tickets and taking proposal deposits needs a connected Stripe account that can take payments in your currency.
Check-in works in a phone browser. To scan with the camera the browser has to support it and be allowed to use the camera, otherwise staff can type the ticket code.

What it does not do

Online ticket and deposit payments go through Stripe. Without a usable Stripe account, tickets cannot be sold online.
A new proposal replaces the earlier open one for the same enquiry, so the guest can only accept what you offered last.
A ticket checks in once. A second scan shows when it was already used rather than admitting the party again.
